FAQ
Lessons are 1 hour long.
An hour works well, because it allows enough time for reviewing assignments from previous lessons, absorbing new material, and asking questions you may have.
I suggest having a lesson once a week when possible. Regular lessons keep you in a routine and provide fresh momentum for the week ahead. Plus, lessons are fun! You might find it's a part of your week that you really look forward to.
If you need a more flexible schedule, though, that's no problem! We can meet whenever works for your schedule and your budget, and you always have the option to pay for one lesson at a time. The most important thing is just to get started!
If you're a beginner, we'll start with simple pieces that will help you develop your technique and understanding of the instrument. As you progress, we can explore different genres of music based on your interests, including, classical, folk, fiddle, and pop.
If you have experience playing already, we'll discuss what you've studied in the past, and how you might like to move forward. Together, we'll design a curriculum that reflects your interests and strengthens your skills.
I have two locations:

Online lessons are a great way for us to connect when we can't be in the same place at the same time. Many students take a combination of in-person and online lessons with me.
If you're an absolute beginner, I recommend meeting in person for the first few lessons.
Please get in touch for my current hourly rate. I'd love to hear from you!
You always have the option to pay one lesson at a time, and to take as many or as few lessons as you'd like.
I accept Venmo (preferred), cash, and check. My Venmo is @Tori-Woodrow.
I ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
There are many music shops with the option to either rent or purchase an instrument. Here are a few I highly recommend!
Online: Shar Music
In Colorado Springs: Graner Music
In Denver: Luther Strings
If you're not sure where to start, please get in touch, and I'll be happy to guide you!
For our first lesson, please bring your violin and a shoulder rest. If you don't have a shoulder rest, I recommend this one by Everest:
If you're a beginner, that's all you need to get started! We can talk about additional materials based on your needs and interests.
If you've played before, you might want to bring music and books you've worked on before, so I can get an idea of your experience. If you feel comfortable, you might also prepare something short to play for me, such as a scale, or a few lines from a song.
Absolutely! I perform regularly with Opera Colorado, Colorado Ballet, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and many other groups across the Front Range.
Feel free to ask me about my upcoming shows. And by the way, I'm often able to get free tickets for my students. Yay!
